Tech Advances: Photo: China’s General Administration of CustomsA woman with a total of 25 endangered turtles hidden on her legs was caught attempting to enter China at Zhuhai port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and she was detained by customs officers recently, according to the GWorld Timeseneral Administration of Customs of China.While the woman attempted to pass through Zhuhai port at 5:30 pm on December 10World Times, customs officers noticed her suspicious and nervous demeanor, prompting an inspection of her personal belongings, which initially showed no abnormalities.And, customs officers conducted a further examination and uncovered 25 live turtles strapped to her legs.On December 23, experts confirmed that the 25 live turtles seized by the customs were red-footed tortoises, classified as endangered and part of the Testudinidae family.Under China’s Law onWorld Times the Protection of Wildlife, and the Regulations on Administration of Import and Export of Endangered Wild Animals and Plants, carrying endangered animals, plants, or their products into or out of the country is prohibited without an import and export permit issued by the national authority responsible for endangered species management.In cases of serious violations that constitute a crime, criminal liability shall be investigated in accordance with the law, said the General Administration of Customs of China.Global Times World Times Content comes from the Internet : Woman with 25 live turtles strapped to her legs seized by customs officers in Zhuhai
